Garland, TX--After holding the lead most of the first half, Alcorn State was defeated by Prairie View 63-50 in the SWAC Title Game.
The Lady Braves started strong with
Sharnika Breedlove scoring the first basket of the game. Alcorn State and Prairie View traded the lead before the Lady Braves pulled away at the 4:46 mark. Alcorn State maintained the lead for the duration of the first half scoring 11 points off of Prairie View's turnovers and nine bench points.
The Lady Braves took a seven point lead in the locker room, 32-25.
Alcorn State commanded an eleven point lead in the second half. The momentum shifted in the Panthers' favor when Latia Williams' pair of free throws gave Prairie View the lead. The Panthers continued to hit key shots down the stretch as they captured the 2012 SWAC Title.
Carolinsia Crumbly was the lone Lady Braves in double figures with 16 points. Alcorn State was out-rebounded 45-35 and was 18-59 (30.5%) from field goal range.
