Alcorn State, MS--- The Braves lost a heartbreaker to Texas Southern, 54-51.
Alcorn State got off to a slow start but quickly got into a rhythm and controlled the first half. The Braves scored 14 points in the paint and ten off of turnovers as they took an eleven point lead into the locker room, 33-22.
The Alcorn State 2011 SWAC Champs teams (Baseball and Men's Tennis) were honored during the half with their Championship rings.
Alcorn State dominated much of the second half until the Tigers gained momentum and took the lead. Texas Southern never looked back as they handed the Braves their eleventh SWAC loss.
Alcorn State shot 36.4% from field goal range while hitting 8 of 12 (66.4 %) at the free throw line. The Braves were outrebounded by TSU 39-25.
Anthony Nieves and
Twann Oakley posted 13 points apiece to lead all scorers.
