Alcorn State falls to Texas Southern, 60-55

Missed rebounds and free throws plague Braves

Garland, TX—Alcorn State fell short of heading to the SWAC Championship game as they lost to Texas Southern, 60-55.
 
In the first half, the Braves and Tigers traded baskets to establish the lead.  The first half alone allowed eight ties before Alcorn's Xavian Rimmer banked a basket just before the half to give the Braves a two-point lead, 31-29.
 
The Braves allowed Texas Southern to tie the game and eventually the Tigers took the lead.  Alcorn State could not capitalize on shots from the free throw line to make a strong comeback as the Tigers walked away with a five point victory, 60-55.
 
Alcorn State shot 39.2% from field goal range while hitting 11 of 20 (55.0 %) at the free throw line.  The Braves were 4-13 (30.8%) from downtown.
 
Alcorn State had three players in double digits:  Ken McDonald (11), KeDorian Sullivan (11) and Martrevious Sanders (10).
