Huntsville, AL—The Braves swept Alabama A&M in the final game of the three-game series with a score of 7-6 in 10 innings.
Both teams went scoreless in the first inning, but the Braves managed to get on board in the top of the second inning with runs scored by Rodney Warren, Justin Perales and Antolin Morales.
The Bulldogs made it a one run game in the home half of the fourth inning as Riggins and Mitchell scored.
In the sixth inning, Alcorn's Rodney Warren singled to left field. With two outs on the board, Warren scored off a wild pitch. Antolin Morales gave the Braves a 5-2 lead as he scored off a single to center field by
Edgardo Salas.
Alabama A&M continued to stay close in the game as the Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to stay within two of the Braves, 5-3.
The eighth inning proved to be a critical inning for both ball clubs as Alcorn scored one run to lead, 6-3. The Bulldogs pushed out three runs to tie the game at 6-6. With neither team scoring in the ninth inning, the contest went into an extra inning.
Rodney Warren saved Alcorn State by hitting a home run to left field to give the Braves a 7-6 victory over the Bulldogs.
Warren had a stellar performance having 3 hits, scoring four runs and one RBI.
The Braves completed the day with seven runs off eight hits and no errors, while Alabama recorded six runs off 14 hits with one error.
Raymundo Sanchez is credited with the win while Tucker picked up the loss and
Chris Garza recorded the save.
Alcorn State will return to action on May 2, 2012 against Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
