Hattiesburg, MS--The Braves fell to non-conference opponent, Southern Miss, 9-7 in game one of a three game series.
Alcorn State scored in the second innning as
Angel Rosa scored off a wild pitch.
In the top half of the third inning,
Angel Rosa's single gave the Braves a 2-0 as right fielder Eduardo Gonzalez scored.
After the Braves held the Golden Eagles scoreless for two innings, USM jumped on the boards in the home half of the third as Graeter scored as Robbins singled to right field. Both teams went scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings.
Southern Miss tied the game at 2-2 as Sterling scored off Graeter's walk in the bottom of the six inning.
The Braves had an outstanding 7th inning with Alving Jackson scoring off a single by Rodney Warren. Eduardo Gonzalez drove in Jann Butler off a single.
Angel Rosa hit a home run to left center scoring three runs.
The Golden Eagles responded back with seven runs off three hits to take the lead and capture the victory.
