Lady Golden Lions Defeat Lady Braves 50-41

Box Score Lorman, MS-Tierra Frost scored 20 points but it wasn't enough to catch the Lady Golden Lions.  The Lady Braves suffered their fifth SWAC loss of the season to Arkansas Pine-Bluff 50-41.
 
The Lady Golden Lions jumped on the Lady Braves early holding the Lady Braves to only two points in the first eight minutes of the first half taking a 7-2 lead.

Guard Carolinsia Crumbly scored five points in the next three minutes, and a jumper by guard Tierra Frost put the Lady Braves down by two points, 12-10 at the 8:40 mark.

A three-point basket by guard Cassidy Wright increased the Lady Golden Lions to their largest lead of the half, 20-12.  The Lady Braves found themselves trailing 20-26 halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Golden Lions kept the intensity going when Marion Thompson made two free throws that gave them their largest lead of the game 27-39 with less than nine minutes to go.

Guard Tierra Frost made a three-point basket to cut the lead to nine at 7:49.  Free throw shots by Frost with 25 seconds left to play gave the Lady Braves another opportunity to win the game but the Lady Golden Lions knocked down their free throws to close out the game.

Crumbly finished the game with a double-double recording 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Braves

Arkansas Pine-Bluff had three players to score in double-figures. Christina Lasane led the way with 13 points. Wright and Chigozianyi Okwumbua both chipped in with 12 points each.

The Lady Braves (1-14, 1-5) travel to Alabama to take on Alabama A&M Saturday, January 19, 2013. Tip-off is at 2:00 p.m.
