LeAntwan Luckett had one of his best games in SWAC play recording a game-high 25 points for the Braves. The Braves bounced back after Monday night's disappointing loss sneaking Alabama A&M 69-59.
The Braves jumped out to an early 7-3 lead on the Bulldogs on a bucket by
LeAntwan Luckett at the 13:57 mark. Forward Nicholas West nailed a three-pointer at the 9:54 mark to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the half, 14-10.
Both teams traded baskets for the rest of the first half but a layup by Luckett put the Braves back on top 26-24 with 3:24 left in the first half.
The Bulldogs (7-10, 3-3) recaptured the lead on a pair of free throws by Green Hill, but it was the Braves who went into the locker room with the halftime lead 33-32.
After the break, the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run to go up 36-33 but that would be the last time the Bulldogs had the lead for the rest of the game.
The Braves opened up a 10-0 run to give themselves a little breathing room on a jumper by
Anthony Evans to extend their lead to 43-36 with 13:22 left to play.
Green Hill once again hit a pair of free throws to tie the game, 43-43 at the 9:19 mark but the Braves was determined not to surrender the lead again.
Solid defense and made free throws sealed the deal for the Braves.
The Braves shot 57 percent in the second half.
Marquiz Baker also scored 25 points for the Braves making 10 of 12 free throws. Baker and Lucket combined for 50 of the Braves 69 points.
Green Hill and Brandon Ellis led the Bulldogs with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Braves move to 7-15 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Next up for the Braves is Monday night at Alabama State. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m.
