Box Score Montgomery, Ala-Carolinisia Crumbly's game-high 17 points wasn't enough to overcome Alabama State. the Lady Braves missed some crucial free throws and picked up their fourth straight loss at the hands of the Lady Hornets, 54-46.
In the first half, the Lady Hornets jumped on top of the Lady Braves 10-4 when Erica Henderson hit a 3-pointer at the 13:01 mark. The Lady Hornets lead would increase to 10 on a layup by Quentori Alford to make it 16-6.
Crumbly hit a jumper with 4:39 left in the first half to cut the lead to six, 24-18. The last bucket of the half would come at the 1:32 mark when Alabama State's Nakiya Smith made a layup to take a 27-22 lead into the locker room.
The Lady Hornets went on a 11-2 run after the break to take a 38-24 lead on a layup by Smith. Crumbly stopped the bleedinig with a layup make the score 38-26.
Alexis Martin hit a three from the corner to cut the Lady Hornets lead to 40-29 with 13:20 to play.
From there, the Lady Braves would go without a basket for 10+ minutes until Crumbly connected on a jumper with 3:13 to play to close the gap at 46-40. Smith scored a layup to put the game out of reach for the Lady Braves.
The Lady Braves were outrebounded on the glass 49-37 missed 10 free throws going 16-26 from the stripe.
The Lady Hornets racked up 33 points off the bench on the night and were led by Nakiya Smith with 14 points. Amaria Brown chipped in 13 poinits.
