Carolinsia Crumbly added 20 points to lead the Lady Braves to their first victory of the season defeating Grambling 71-58.
Crumbly scored the first six points for the Lady Braves giving them an early 6-2 lead. Both teams were neck and neck for the continuation of the first half. There were six lead changes and six ties in the first half and the Lady Braves took a one point lead to the locker room 24-23.
Grambling opened up the second half with a 6-0 run to take the lead 29-24 at the 18:41 mark. But the Lady Braves picked up the slack on defense when senior
Isis Smith stole the ball away from Grambling's Victoya Ricks leading to a layup by
Rosemane Ambrose to cut the lead to 35-30.
The Lady Tigers would go by as many as seven points before the Lady Braves charged back. Freshman forward,
Ather Cep knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 38 apiece with 13:36 left to play and it was all about the Lady Braves for rest of the way.
An 8-0 run by the Lady Braves helped extend their lead to nine, 55-46 with 8:11 still left to play. Grambling would stop the run with a layup by Joanna Miller.
Crumbly grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a jumper with 1:25 left to build the lead to 11 points, 67-56.
Rosemane Ambrose hit a pair of free throws to put the Lady Tigers away for the night.
The Lady Braves outscored Grambling 47-35 in the second half and forced a season-high 28 turnovers.
Joanna Miller led the Lady Tigers with a game-high 23 points.
The Lady Braves are back in action Saturday night when the Lady Delta Devilettes of Mississippi Valley come to town. Tip-off is at 2:30 pm.
