Vanessa Ortega recorded career-highs tonight but it wasn't enough to upset defending SWAC-Champs Jackson State. The Lady Braves suffered their 11-staright match to the Tigers 3-1.
The Lady Braves lost the first set 25-9 but picked up the slack in the second set (25-23) to tie the game at 1-1. The Lady Tigers took command the rest of the way defeating the Lady Braves 25-15 and 25-10.
Mellom recorded a career-high 20 assist. She also recorded eight digs, five kills, and three serving aces.
Ortega recorded a career-high 18 digs, four assist, and two kills.
The Lady Braves return to action this weekend as they travel to Baton Rouge, La. to participate in the Southern University Tournament.
