Box Score MONROE, La. - The Alcorn State Lady Braves took on the East Carolina Lady Pirates tonight in the first round of the Clarion Warhawk Classic hosted by Louisiana-Monroe. East Carolina shot well from the foul stripe making 31 out of 40 free throws to defeat the Lady Braves 85-42.
The Lady Braves got behind 4-0 early in the first half on back-to-back baskets by East Carolina's Jada Payne.
Cortini Cooper answered the call for the Lady Braves scoring five consecutive points to cut the lead to 6-5 but the Lady Pirates took control of the game from there.
East Carolina would open up a huge lead led by Abria Trice who scored 21 points and made 12 of the Lady Pirates 20 free throws in the first half.
The Lady Braves found themselves down 50-22 at the half.
After the half, both teams for the first seven minutes of the second half until East Carolina slowly broke away from the Lady Braves to increase their lead en route to a victory.

Ashtin McNichols each led the Lady Braves (1-6) with eight points a piece.
Trice led East Carolina with a game-high 23 points. Jada Payne and J'Kyra Brown both added 18 points for the Lady Pirates.
The Lady Braves will face the loser of the Grand Canyon/Louisiana-Monroe matchup tomorrow at 5 p.m.
