Box Score MACON, Ga. - LeAntwan Lucket scored a game-high 22 points but the Braves gave up 43 second half points to pick up their sixth straight loss falling to Mercer 70-44 at Hawkins Arena.
In the first several minutes of the game the Braves allowed Mercer to jump out to a 15-2 lead but sophomore
LeAntwan Luckett gave the Braves some life scoring the next nine points. Luckett's hot streak put the Braves within seven points, 18-11 at the 7:36 mark of the first half.
Moments later Mercer extended their lead to nine points on a layup by Bud Thomas to boost the score to 22-13 with 6:00 to play before the half.
The Braves kept charging when senior guard
Twann Oakley made a layup to cut Mercer's lead to 22-18 with just 3:05 to play before halftime.
Mercer would go increase their lead to nine once again on a three-pointer by Langston Hall but Luckett struck again to send the Braves to the locker room only down seven, 27-20.
After the break, Mercer came out and went on a 9-0 run capitalizing off the Braves cold shooting to push the lead to 36-20.
Luckett answered the call again for the Braves with a basket and one to cut the lead to 36-23.
Right after Luckett's three-point play, Mercer's Anthony White, Jr. scored nine consecutive points to open the Bears lead back to 44-25 with just over 14 minutes to play in the game and it was all Mercer from there.
The Braves shot 18.8% from the field in the second half but finished with 17 offensive rebounds.
Oakley finished the game with 13 points.
White, Jr., Hall, and Daniel Coursey each scored 13 points to lead Mercer. Jakob Gollon added 11 points.
The Braves (3-7) are back in action on December 28th and 29th when they travel to El Paso, Texas to participate in the West Bank Sun Bowl Tournament. On day one of the tournament the Braves will face Denver and cap off the weekend against Western Illinois.
