Box Score Lorman, Miss.-Tonight was not the night for the Braves after returning home from a two-game road trip and in which resulted in losses. The Braves recorded their third straight loss at the hands of Alabama A&M, 72-65.
Marquiz Baker scored the first basket of the game on layup to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. A&M's Brandon Ellis, who scored the first nine points for the Bulldogs, nailed a three-pointer at the 16:40 mark in the first half to give the Braves.
The Braves opened a seven-point lead on a pair of free throws by
Anthony Nieves to make the score 24-17.
A&M's Justan's Banks tied the game at 24-24 at the 7:31 mark.
Baker helped closed the first half for the Braves knocking down a three-pointer to take a 10-point lead to the locker room. The Braves finished the half on a 12-2 run. You would think the Braves had the game in the bag at this point.
In the second half, the Braves maintained a slight lead unril the 11:22 mark when A&M's Ellis connected on another three-pointer to tie the game at 45-45.
The game went back and forth for the next six minutes but the Bulldogs exploded in the last couple of minutes by knocking down their free throws and playing solid defense.
Baker led the Braves with 20 points tonight.
LeAntwan Luckett and Nieves both chipped in 18 and 10 points, respectively.
A&M's Ellis racked up 25 points. Deamquelle Tabb recorded a double-double scoring 20 points and snatching down 14 rebounds. Green Hill added 12 points.
The Braves (9-20, 7-7) return to action Monday night against Alabama State in their home finale. Tip-off is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the women's game.
