Box Score Lorman, Miss.-It was senior at the Davey L. Whitney Complex as the Lady Braves hosted Alabama State in their home finale. The Lady Braves shot a season-low seven percent from behind the arc and picked up their 11th straight loss at the hands of the Lady Hornets.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four and half minutes into the game.
Junior guard Tierra Frost made a pair of free throws to tie the game at 4-4 with 12:13 to play in the first half.
Sophomore guard, Cortini Cooper forced a turnover and went down for the score to give the Lady Braves their first lead of the game 6-4 at the 10:49 mark.
The Lady Braves opened up a 9-2 run to push the lead to 13-6 with 8:21 to play in the first half which was the largest lead of the first half.
Later, Alabama State's Taila Arrington knocked down a three-pointer to retake the lead at the 4:06 mark to make the score 17-15.
A couple of defensive stops allowed the Lady Braves to score a few baskets before the half and take a 21-20 into the locker room.
In the second half, the Lady Braves never saw the lead. The Lady Hornets out and went on a 10-0 run to take a 30-21 lead with 17:05 left to play.
The Lady Braves did manage to stay within range of the Lady Hornets and was able to cut the lead to one, 44-43 with 5:28 to play in the game.
Alabama State's Quentori Alford made a layup to extend the lead back to seven, 50-43 with just above two minutes to play and the Lady Braves just could not close the gap from there.
Tierra Frost led all scoreres with a game-high 24 points and also had six steals. Senior
Au-Juvan Andrews closed out her final home game with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Kierra Paige led the Lady Hornets with 17 points. Alford added 14 points on the night.
The Lady Braves (1-23, 1-14) are back in action Saturday night as they travel to Baton Rouge to face the Southern Lady Jaguars. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
