Lady Braves defeat Southern Snapping 11-Game Losing Streak

Box Score Baton Rouge, La.-Three Lady Braves players scored in double-figures against Southern this afternoon.  The Lady Brave outscored the Lady Jaguars 41-21 in the second half to snap their 11-game losing skid, 65-54.
 
In the first half, the Lady Braves got off to a great start jumping out to a 7-2 lead on a fast break layup by sophomore guard Cortini Cooper at the 15:49 mark. 
 
Southern would go on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game 8-7 on a jumper by Lechell Rush. 
 
For the next 12 minutes of the first half, both teams would exchange baskets until Southern opened up a 12-4 run to closed the half.
 
Southern held a nine-point advantage at the half 33-24 but the Lady Braves had other plans in the second half.
 
After the break, the momentum shifted to the Lady Braves.  In the first six minutes of the second half, the Lady Braves used a 12-4 run to close the gap to one point on a layup by junior Tierra Frost to cut the lead to 37-36 with 14:07 to play.
 
Southern fired back with a 8-0 run of their own and extended their lead back to nine on a three-pointer by Adrian Sanders to make the score 45-36 at the 10:03 mark.
 
The Lady Braves kept fighting and put together an amazing 20-4 run to take their lead and increase that lead to 56-49 with 3:02 to play in the game.  With the run, the Lady Braves were able to put the Lady Jags away for the remainder of the game.
 
The Lady Braves shot 52 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line as a team in the second half.
 
Tierra Frost led the Lady Braves with 20 points and shot 88 percent from the free throw line.  Crumbly finished with 17 points and eight rebounds and Renelle Richmond added 11 points.
 
Southern was led by Adrian Sanders with 16 points.  Kendra Coleman chipped in 11 points.
 
The Lady Braves (2-23, 2-14) are off for a week before wrapping up the regular season in Texas where they will face Prairie View and conference leader Texas Southern on February 28 and March 2
