Mississippi Valley Too Much for Lady Braves

Box Score LORMAN - Tierro Frost scored a game-high 20 points but the Lady Braves turned the ball over 21 times in tonight's 70-55 loss to Mississippi Valley State at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

Unlike Monday night, the Lady Braves held a slight lead in the first half but couldn't pull away from the Devilettes.

The Lady Braves largest lead was two points in the first half until back-to-back three-pointers by Olivia Kennedy to open the Devilettes lead to 26-21 with 4:50 to play in the first half.

The Devilettes went on an 18-4 run to close out the first half leading the Lady Braves 36-23.

After the half, the Lady Braves came out fired up going on an 8-0 run to close the lead to five, 36-31 with just over three minutes into the second half.

A three-pointer before the shot clock ran out by Joncyee Sanders sparked an 8-0 run for the Devilettes making the score 47-33 with 11:41 to play.

From there the Lady Braves couldn't get back into rhythm on offense and got behind as many 19 points.

The Lady Braves shot 13-of-25 from the free throw line.

Mississippi Valley forced 12 steals and only committed 8 turnovers.

DeRita Silas led the Devilettes with 15 points. Jo. Sanders and Olivia Kennedy each had 14 points. Ashley Beals added 12 points.

The Lady Braves are back in action Monday night as they hit the road to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
