Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The Braves shot 51 percent from the field and nailed eight three-pointers to keep their winning streak alive defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff tonight in blowout fashion, 71-45 at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
Junior Trey Brown hit a pair of three-pointers with less than three minutes into the game to give the Braves an early 8-4 lead.
Less than four minutes later, UAPB's Marcel Mosely tied the game at 11-11 apiece on back-to-back three-pointers at the 13:30 mark of the first half.
LeAntwan Luckett came off the bench to give the Braves a huge spark scoring seven consecutive points off UAPB's turnovers to open the Braves lead to 22-13 with 9:25 to play before the half. It was all about the Braves from there.
Luckett scored the last five points of the first half and the Braves went in at the half with a 33-20 lead.
In the second half, the Braves quickly pulled away from UAPB led by Brown, Luckett, and Twann Oakley.
A fierce dunk by Brown increase the Braves lead to 40-25 with 17:18 to go.
Oakley came off the bench and knocked down back-to-back three's to extend the Braves lead to 17, 46-29 with 13:47 to play.
The Braves never allowed UAPB to get back in the game only holding the Golden Lions to only nine made field goals in the second half.
The Braves on committed a season-low 6 turnovers in the game tonight.
Brown led the Braves with 20 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Luckett was 8-of-10 from the field scoring 19 points and added four assists. Oakley hit 4-of-5 from three-point range to finish the game with a 16 points and five assists.
Davon Haynes was the only player for UAPB to score in double-figures with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The Braves are back in action this Saturday at the Davey L. Whitney Complex as they welcome Alabama State to the "Reservation." Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. immediately following the women's game.
