LORMAN, Miss. - The Braves never led by no more than eight points and allowed Alabama State to hang around the entire game cost the Braves the victory tonight at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. The Braves hope of undefeated record at home came to a close tonight as they drop their first home game of the season to the Hornets 58-54.
The Braves only led by three at the half on a three-pointer by senior guard
Anthony Evans, 24-21.
After the half, the Braves opened up a five point lead on a layup by
Marquis Vance making the score, 28-23.
But Alabama State's, Luther Page, gave the Hornets their firrst lead of the second half on a made layup with 13:59 to play.
Both teams continued to trade baskets until the Braves opened up another five point lead with just under six minuts into the to play in the second half.
The Braves were just a few minutesaway from picking up their fifth straight win until Terrance LeFlore nailed a jumper from the top of the key with 2:28 to play.
With Leflore's jumper, Alabama State was able to slow the Braves the rest of the night.
The Braves had three players in double-figures with Trey Brown leading the way 13 points and snatched down 11 points.
Anthony Evans and
Marquis Vance each scored 12 points for the Braves.
Luther Page led all scorers with 20 points. Brandon Graham added 16 points.
The Braves are back in action Monday night vs. Alabama A&M before they hit the road for almost the entire month of February.
