Tierro Frost scored a game-high 24 points but the Lady Braves couldn't pull off the win on the road. The Lady Braves led at the half but allowed Prairie View to make a huge run in second half to drop their second straight SWAC loss, 71-68.
Through the first few minutes of the first half, the Braves and Prairie View traded baskets until the Lady Braves started a small run before the half.
The Lady Braves went on a 11-5 run to close out the first half and led 32-28 at the break.
Frost came out and scored the first six points of the half to continue the Lady Braves run and before you know it the Lady Braves were up 38-30.
The Lady Braves would lead by as many as 10, 42-32 on a layup by
Ashtin McNichols with 15:13 to play.
But the Lady Panthers fought back going on 16-6 run to take the lead 48-46 on a three-pointer by Gabrielle Scott with 10:18 to play in the game.
The rally turned into a 26-6 run by the Lady Panthers and grabbed their largest lead of the game, 54-46 with 8:38 to play.
Prairie View held on to their lead for the next four minutes of the game but the Lady Braves battled back when
Misha Jones snatched down an offensive rebound and went back up for the score to cut the lead to 67-63.
Seconds later, Frost stole the ball and made a layup to put the Lady Braves down two, 68-65 with .31 seconds to play.
Ather Cep came off the bench for the first time in the game and hit a bank shot three-pointer off the glass to tie the game at 68-68 with .13 seconds to play.
But a costly turnover and two fouls put Prairie View on the line to close the game out making three out of four free throws.
McNichols added 12 for the Lady Braves.
Prairie View had four players in double figures led by Scott with 16 points. Jeanette Jackson and Larissa Scott (also grabbed 11 rebounds) each had 15 points. Shamiya Brooks chipped in 11 points.
The Lady Braves return to action this Saturday as they welcome rival Jackson State to the reservation. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
