A slow start by the Braves allowed California to control the pace the entire game as the Braves fall in their season opener 91-57 at the Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif.
The Braves were scoreless for the first four minutes of the game and allowed Cal to jump out to a 15-0 lead. Junior
Tyrel Hunt got the Braves on the board first on a layup.
Because Cal was able to open up a such huge lead, the Braves couldn't manage to pick up the slack to get back in the game. Â
LeAntwan Luckett led the Braves with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting and recorded two steals. Sophomore
Marquis Vance scored 17 points and almost notched a double-double by snatching down nine rebounds. He also recorded two blocks on the night.
Cal had six players to score in double figures led by Tyrone Wallace who scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Braves get on the plane tonight and head to Austin, Texas another tough matchup against the University of Texas on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on ESPN-U.
