Braves Fall to Bradley 9-4 on Opening Day

Box Score Lorman, Miss. - It was Braves vs. Braves this afternoon at Willie "Rat" McGowan Stadium. The Alcorn State Braves gave up five runs in extra innings picking up their first loss of 2014.

Both teams scored in the first inning making the score 1-1.

But the Braves begin to put the bat on the ball in the fourth and fifth innings.

Scottie Peavey and Christian Hickman each hit doubles to give the Braves a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning.

In the fifth inning, Moses Charles stole two bases and scored on a routine groundout to increase the Braves lead to 4-1.

Both teams went scores in the next three innings until Bradley tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the eighth by scoring three runs on three base hits.

The Braves had no answer for Bradley as they exploded in the 10th inning scoring five runs to put the Braves away for the evening.

Peavey had five at bats and recorded two hits and a RBI. He also scored a run to lead the Braves.

The Braves and Bradley are back in action for game two of the weekend series at 2pm tomorrow at McGowan Stadium.
