Braves Squeeze Pass Mississippi Valley on the Road 67-63

Box Score Greenville, Miss. - Sophomore LeAntwan Luckett scored a game-high 25 points and recorded six steals en route to helping the Braves snap a three-game losing streak in a win over Mississippi Valley tonight 67-63 at theWashington Convention Center in Greenville.

The Braves took a 7-2 lead with less than five minutes into the second half on layup by Marquis Vance at the 15:14 mark.

Mississippi Valley's Julian Francis tied the game at 13-13 on a pair of free throws followed by DeAngelo Prior making a layup to retake the lead for the Delta Devils with 9:29 to play in the first half.

The Braves allowed Mississippi Valley to build a seven-point lead with 4:33 to play before the half on three-pointer by Jeffrey Simmons.

But senior guard Anthony Evans would tie the game on some made free throws at 24-24 and made a layup to take the lead 26-24 with 2:24 left before the half. But the Delta Devils went into the locker room with a two-point lead, 30-28.

Jumping into the middle of the second half, the Braves got behind six points 52-46 with 8:29 to play in the game. But Luckett and Trey Brown went to work after the half scoring 30 of the Braves 39 points in the second half.

The Braves went on a 9-2 run to retake the lead, 55-54 on a steal and layup by Luckett with 6:38 to play.

Tied at 60-60 with 3:06, Devante Hampton hit a crucial three-pointer to give the Braves a 63-60 lead and from there the Braves would nail their free throws to put the Delta Devils away for the night.

Luckett shot just over 60 percent field. The Braves also forced 24 turnovers and scored 24 points off of those turnovers.

Brown scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds on the night.

Priar, Francis, and Thaddeus Fauntleroy each scored 11 points tonight for the Delta Devils.

The Braves return to action Monday night for their lone February game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
