Box Score Lorman, Miss. - The Braves were outscored in the second half 35-27 but held on to defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 57-54 tonight at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
UAPB opened up an 8-1 lead early in the first half with four minutes into the first half.
The Braves quickly closed the gap going on a 15-0 run to take a 16-8 lead on a layup and one by Trey Brown with 11-11 to play in the first half.
The lead would open up to as many as 12 when
Anthony Evans made a running layup as the shot clock expired.
At the half, the Braves led UAPB 30-19.
But after the break, UAPB came out fired up and went on a 19-7 run to take a 38-27 lead with 10:47 to play in the game.
UAPB held their slight lead over the Braves until the 4:47 mark in the second half when the three's started to fall. Brown and Devonte Hampton hit back-to-back three's to regain the lead for the Braves 50-48.
A huge three-pointer by
LeAntwan Luckett sealed the deal for the Braves with the shot clock running down to give the Braves a 56-51 lead with .14 seconds left.
Luckett and Hampton each scored 16 points for the Braves tonight while Brown added 14 points.
Marcel Mosely led UAPB with 16 points. Ghiovanni Robinson hit five three-pointers and finished the game with 15 points.
Up next for the Braves is a trip to Montgomery, Ala.to take on Alabama State at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
