Box Score LORMAN - The Lady Braves went missed 22 free throws making 19-of-41 free throws for 46.3 percent in tonight's 67-62 overtime loss to Southern at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
Southern jumped out to an 8-0 league led by Kendra Coleman who nailed two early three-pointers.
The Lady Jags lead quickly increased to 10, on a basket by Zeneka Willix to make the score 15-5.
They led the Lady Braves the entire first half but the Lady Braves managed to close the gap to one point, 20-19 on a pair of made free throws by
Ashtin McNichols.
The Lady Braves were down 26-21 at the half.
After the half, the Lady Braves continued to cut into the Lady Jags lead and at the 15:22 mark, McNichols hit a jumper to give the Lady Braves their first lead of the game.
Back and forth both teams went for the entire second half with Southern holding a slight lead over the Lady Braves.
With 2:19 to play, Angleica Wilson-Reid hit two free throws to give the Lady Braves their first lead in 13 minutes.
Southern Kendra Coleman would get to the line with .40 seconds to play to send the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, the Lady Braves struck with
Tierro Frost scoring three consecutive points to give the Lady Braves a three-point cushion, 61-58.
But some good free throw shooting by the Lady Jags helped overcome the Lady Braves in overtime.
Frost led the Lady Braves with a team-high 23 points.
Southern was led by Kendra Coleman with a game-high 25 points and went 14-of-18 from the free throw line shooting 88 percent on the night. Adrian Sanders chipped in 11 points.
