Lady Braves Late Run Not Enough Tonight Against Texas Southern

Box Score Lorman, Miss. – A late push by the Lady Braves with less than .30 seconds wasn't enough for tonight as the Lady Braves dropped their fourth straight to Texas Southern 67-64.

The Lady Braves jumped out to a 9-6 lead on a few baskets Kierro Frost and Ashtin McNichols with just under three minutes into the 1st half.

Texas Southern quickly went on an 8-0 run to regain the lead from the Lady Braves 12-9 at the 13:29 mark. The Lady Braves didn't retake the lead for the rest of the way.

Texas Southern went ahead by as many as eight in the first half but the Lady Braves did manage to cut the lead to 33-31 going into the locker room for the half.

The Lady Tigers continued to increase their lead but the Lady Braves got within one on a layup by Angelica Wilson-Reid to make the score 46-45 with 10:24 to play.

But Brianna Sidney and Jazzmin Parker went to work from behind the arc knocking down a couple of three's to extend the Lady Tigers lead to nine, 61-49 with 4:38 to play.

The Lady Braves wouldn't go away with under four minutes to play. Led by a few baskets from Tierro Frost and some clutch free throws by Ashtin McNichols, the Lady Braves were able to cut the lead to one on a 15-4 run to 65-64 with .05 seconds left to play.

The Lady Tigers hit a pair of free throws but the Lady Braves had another shot at winning the game but T. Frost jumper didn't fall.

T. Frost led all scorers with a game-high 23 points while McNichols chipped in 14 points.

Parker led the Lady Tigers with 20 points. Sidney scored 18 points on the night.

The Lady Braves wrap up the regular season Saturday afternoon as they prepare to host Prairie View at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
