Box Score LORMAN - The Braves blew an 18-point lead in the first half but
LeAntwan Luckett managed to knock down a pair of free throws to hold on and defeat Prairie View in their home season finale 64-62.
Twan Oakley came out in his final home game as a Brave firing away scoring eight of the Braves first 17 points to go ahead 17-9 at the 13:16 mark of the first half.
The bench played well for the Braves tonight led by
Josh Nicholas who flushed a dunk late in the first half to give the Braves their largest lead of the game 34-14 with 3:03 left to play before the half.
The Braves took a 38-20 lead into the halftime period.
Prairie View stormed out of the locker room with an 18-4 run led by three-pointer's from Montrael Scott to cut the Braves lead down to one, 42-41 with 8:23 to play in the game.
The Panthers kept knocking on the door and the answer came on a basket and one by Tre Hagood off of a Braves turnover to give the Panthers their first lead of the game 48-47 with 5:32 to play.
Prairie View would maintain their lead for the next 2:30 minutes and go ahead by as many as seven, 60-53 with 2:08 to go in the game.
But the Braves weren't out of it just yet. Luckett hit a three-pointer and the Braves forced two turnovers to cut the lead to one, 62-61 with eight seconds to play. The Braves forced another steal with Luckett getting fouled at the end of the play. He hit the two free throws to give the Braves a 63-62 lead with just two seconds to play.
The Panthers couldn't get the ball into play throwing it out of bounds and Nicholas sealed the deal for the Braves making one of two free throws.
The Braves bench totaled 27 points in tonight's win.
Luckett and Nicholas eachc finished the game with 13 points.
Prairie View was led by Montrael Scott with 17 points. John Brisco added 15 points while Louis Munks finished with 12 points.
The Braves will travel to Houston to play in the 2014 SWAC Basketball Tournament on next Thursday. The Braves opponent is undetermined at the moment.
