Jarquita Copeland and her Lady Braves defeated Tougaloo 25-11, 26-24, 25-13 for their first season opener win in 14 years yesterday morning.
The Lady Braves took the first game 25-11 after getting behind early 4-0. With some great serving by freshman
Dnada Smith, the Lady Braves were able to rally for the victory.
In game two, Tougaloo jumped out to a 9-2 lead. Freshman
Lurlethia Jones recorded a kill to tie the set at 24-24 and picked up the game-winning kill to give the Lady Braves a 26-24 win.
Game three was all about the Lady Braves after starting the game with a 9-0 edge. Two errors by Tougaloo's defenders gave the Lady Braves a 25-13 win.
Erica Cadell led the Lady Braves with a total of 10 kills.
Sydney Mellom registered 23 assists and seven digs while
Kyla Menefee finished the day with 12 digs and two serving aces.
The Lady Braves return to action on Tuesday night as they travel to Louisiana to face Grambling State.
