Misha Jones left a stamp in the Whitney Complex tonight in her final home game as a Lady Braves. Jones scored a career-high 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the Lady Braves 73-49 blowout win over Alabama A&M.
The Lady Braves got off to a slow start allowing the Lady Bulldogs to jump out to a 5-0 lead. Jones immediately change the game around scoring six of the Lady Braves next eight points to go ahead 8-5.
Later, A&M's Brittney Strickland, who had the hot hand tonight for the Lady Bulldogs, connected on four consecutive made free throws and drained a three-pointer to cut the lead to 14-13.
Jones scored the next four points to push the lead to 18-13 with 9:08 to play in the first half and the Lady Braves controlled the game the rest of the way.
Jones made her first six shots and went 6-for-7 in the first half from the field.
After the half, A&M was only able to get the lead down to eight points, 43-35 with 14:03 to play.
Shaqueria Dubose finished the game with a career-high 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Olivia Brown chipped in 13 points while Jazmine Strane nearly recorded a triple-double finishing with 15 rebounds, six points and seven assists.
The Lady Braves (9-15, 8-7) hit the road this weekend with a key SWAC matchup at Southern. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
