HOUSTON, Texas – Four Braves scored in double-figures tonight but it wasn't enough to knock off top-seeded Texas Southern as the Tigers eliminate the Braves 95-74.
The Braves came out with tons of energy taking it right to Texas Southern. Behind
Marquis Vance and LeAntwan Luckett the Braves jumped out to a 14-8 lead.
Texas Southern quickly turned the game around going on an impressive 12-0 run to take a 20-14 advantage in less than 2 minutes.
LeAntwan Luckett stopped the bleeding after sinking a long three from downtown to cut the lead to 20-17.
For a while, the Braves and Tigers went back and forth with the Braves staying in close range down 29-26 with just under 5 minutes to go in the 1st half.
But Texas Southern exploded in the final 4 minutes of the 1
st half finishing the half with a 20-10 run. The Tigers led 49-36 at the break.
The Braves allowed the Tigers to open up the 2
nd half with a 7-0 run which extended their lead to 56-38.
Texas Southern went ahead by as many as 26, 66-40, in the 2
nd half and the Braves just couldn't regroup.
As a team, the Braves shot 41.2% from the field and made nine three-pointers.
Luckett led all scorers with 21 points and four steals.
Tamarcio Wilson scored 15 points while Vance added 13 points.
Michael Davis chipped in 12 points.
