The Braves had to play big today to pick up a key SWAC East win over Alabama A&M. But the bats of Alabama A&M outpowered the Braves today and the Braves suffered two losses 10-8 and 15-5.
Game 1: Alabama A&M 10, Braves 8The Braves recorded 11 hits to the Bulldogs 10 but fell in game one of the weekend series 10-8.
The Bulldogs got ahead early with a 3-0 lead.
Wallace Rios hit an RBI single to score
Collin Carroll and get the Braves on the board 3-1.
Scottie Peavey led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.
Alabama A&M scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead but the Braves answered back in the bottom of the fifth. Rios and
LaDerrick Williams each singled in the inning. After Rios scored on a passed ball, Carroll stepped in and hit a 3RBI double to tie the game at 6-6.
Alabama A&M's Julio Nunez hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh to pretty much wrap up game one. The Braves scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on a homerun by
Cedric Walker and scored one run in the ninth.
Walker recorded three hits, three runs and one RBI. Rios posted three hits, one run and one RBI.
Game 2: Alabama 15, Braves 5Nothing went the Braves way in game two against the Bulldogs.
The only bright spot in game two was a homerun by
Walter Vives.
The Bulldogs scored four runs in the eighth and the ninth innings to put the Braves away for the night.
Vives collected three hits, three runs and scored a run on five hits.
The Braves and Alabama A&M wrap up the series tomorrow at noon.
