With only days left until the 2015 SWAC Tournament, the Braves have been doing all they can to pick up a win and carry some momentum into next week. The Braves led several times in this game but weren't able to pull out the victory as their losing streak extends to seven at the hands of Prairie View, 83-80.
The Braves led by as many as 10 in the first half and took a 36-29 lead at halftime.
Skipping to the 13:47 mark of the second half when Prairie View tied the game at 50-50 on a three-pointer John Brisco.
Tamarcio Wilson answered right back with a three-pointer of his own to regain the lead for the Braves 53-50.
Minutes later, PVU's Montrael Scott and Brisco connected again from downtown to give the Panthers their first lead of the second half 56-53.
In the next few minutes, the Panthers extended their lead to as many as nine until the Braves made a late push in the end.
Reginald Johnson hit a three-pointer with 1:06 to play to cut the lead to 79-76.
The Panthers would push the lead to five but
Marquis Vance came back down the floor to cut the lead to 81-78 with .57 seconds to go.
Wilson stole the ball with .42 seconds left and made a layup to put the Braves down one, 81-80.
With .10 seconds left, PVU's Tre Hagood made a pair of free throws to give themselves an 83-80 lead. The Braves did not get a shot off in the final seconds.
Luckett led the Braves with 20 points. Johnson posted 18 points while Wilson added 14 points. Vance scored 13 points and grabbed nine points.
The loss makes the Braves the eighth seed in the tournament. They will face Grambling State on Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m.
