Alcorn Basketball Hosts Halloween Madness 2016

LORMAN, Miss. – Fans will get their first look at the 2016-17 men's and women's Alcorn State University basketball programs Monday, Oct. 31, when they host Halloween Madness 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex.

Both the Lady Braves and Braves will be introduced along with head coaches Courtney Pruitt and Montez Robinson. Fans are encouraged to wear costumes during the fun-filled event that includes candy and games.

"Midnight Madness is very important to kick-off our season for two reasons: first, it gets our student body and community excited about basketball and more importantly, it lets them know basketball season is here," said Pruitt. "It is so important to have the support of your friends and family. The earlier you get them involved the better and that's exactly what we're doing at Alcorn."

The showcase includes a three-point contest, a women's scrimmage, a men's scrimmage and more. There will be live music and appearances by the Alcorn cheerleaders and Greek life.

"I'm very excited for this event. Not only are we creating exposure for both our basketball program's here at Alcorn, but we are also increasing school spirit," said Robinson. "We really want to make a big effort in getting our students, fans and the community involved. This is a tremendous way for us to begin the upcoming season in front of everyone on our court."

Admission to Halloween Madness 2016 is free.
