PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - After a straight-set loss to Texas Southern University Friday, the Alcorn State University volleyball program dropped another match Saturday to Prairie View A&M in the William J. Nicks Building.

Freshman Barbara Garrett fired 10 kills on an impressive .240 clip for the Lady Braves (2-15, 1-7 SWAC) against the Lady Tigers (11-9, 7-1 SWAC). Senior Sydney Mellom tallied 11 assists and seven digs.

TSU served 13 aces including nine from Allison Woods.

After the opening frame went to a 1-1 tie, the Lady Tigers ripped off eight straight points, outscoring Alcorn 24-9 the remainder of the set.

More of the same in the second set as TSU jumped out to a 13-3 lead behind three kills from Alexis Austin and held off the Lady Braves to take the second set 25-11.

Alcorn was only able to score four of the first 14 points in the deciding stanza. The Lady Braves used a 4-0 run later in the set to cut the deficit to one at 12-11. The Lady Tigers then ripped off seven straight points to widen the margin at 19-11.

Alcorn scored two straight before TSU closed out the match with three straight points on two kills.

Kali Fluke and Austin recorded nine kills apiece.

The Lady Braves also fell in straight sets to the Lady Panthers (6-13, 5-4 SWAC). PVAMU's Taylor Goudeau spearheaded the attack with 11 kills.

Junior Heather Jackson and freshman Sarah Pierre notched four kills each for Alcorn.

The Lady Panthers made their presence felt early in each set, earning 10 of the first 11 points in the first and 10 of the first 14 in the second and third.
