HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alcorn State University soccer squad will travel to Alabama for matches against Alabama A&M Friday at 3 p.m. on Bulldog Field and Alabama State Sunday at 1 p.m. inside the ASU Soccer Complex.
Since upsetting Southern 4-2 Sept. 30, The Lady Braves (1-8, 1-6 SWAC) have dropped five straight while being outscored 24-8.Â
Viktoriya MIhaylova was one goal short of a hat trick in Alcorn's most recent outing, a 10-3 defeat to Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She netted two penalty kicks in the second half.Â
Sophomore Yaira Guardado is in a four-way tie for fifth in the SWAC with 0.71 goals per contest. Redshirt freshman Rita Okoro has tallied a goal in each of the last two matches.Â
The Lady Bulldogs (2-13, 1-5 SWAC) have dropped their last three matches to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Jackson State and Southern. AAMU is led by Estelle Esperance who has four goals this season.Â
The Lady Hornets (5-9-1, 4-2-1 SWAC) tied Jackson State in a scoreless bout in their most recent match and won their previous three matches. Ariela and Aaliyah Lewis have accounted for 19 of the team's 37 goals with 10 and nine, respectively. ASU ranks second in the SWAC with 3.0 goals per match.Â
