ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Alcorn State University soccer team is looking to end its season on a high note, facing Mississippi Valley State University Friday in a 4 p.m. match on the MVSU Soccer Field.
The Lady Braves (1-10, 1-8 SWAC) have dropped their last seven contests since defeating Southern 4-2 on Sept. 30.
In Alcorn's most recent contest at Alabama State, redshirt freshman forward Rita Okoro struck for two goals but the Lady Braves surrendered nine Lady Hornet goals, including five in the second half.
The Devilettes (4-8-2, 4-3-2 SWAC) have a 2-1-2 record in home SWAC matches this season, most notably tying regular season SWAC champion Howard 2-2 on Sept. 25.Â
MVSU is fronted by junior Laadi Issaka who leads the SWAC with 0.86 goals per contest. Okoro (0.64) ranks fifth in the same category.
Since eighth-place Southern has three SWAC wins, Alcorn's 2016 campaign will come to a close in Itta Bena.Â
