LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State Volleyball squad is looking to snap a seven-game losing streak when it hosts Mississippi Valley State Friday and Jackson State Saturday inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
The Lady Braves (1-12, 0-4 SWAC) made a move in the right direction in their most recent match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, winning their first SWAC set of the season. Freshman Barbara Garrett carried Alcorn with 10 kills while junior Brittney Dumas added eight.
The Devilettes (2-13, 0-5 SWAC) enter the 4:30 p.m. matchup on a three-game skid of their own and have also one just one set during SWAC play this season. Sophomore Kalin Barnes leads MVSU's attack with 2.3 kills per set.
Lady Tigers (1-15, 1-4 SWAC) freshman Desiree Mack has made the most of her five starts, recording 1.9 kills per set. Mack has 97 kills this season, JSU's most. The Lady Tigers lone SWAC victory came over the Devilettes on Sept. 16. The Alcorn-JSU match begins at 1 p.m.
