Braves Drop Second Straight at MLB Urban Invitational

Box Score
NEW ORLEANS – Prairie View A&M University broke a 10-10 tie with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off win against Alcorn State University in game two of the MLB Urban Invitational at the University of New Orleans.
The Braves pitching staff was again victimized by the big inning – allowing a five-run sixth inning to give Prairie View an 8-3 advantage. However, the offense answered right back with seven runs in the top of the seventh – highlighted by a three-run home run by senior CEDRIC WALKER - to give Alcorn a 10-8 lead. But the pitching staff was again unable to hold the two-run lead surrendering the tying runs in the bottom of the inning.
Senior pre-season All-American COLLIN CARROLL reached base five times, going 3-for-4 with two intentional walks and two RBI. Second baseman WALLACE RIOS went 3-for-6, while catcher WALTER VIVES, designated hitter CEDRIC BELL, right fielder Pat McMahon and shortstop MOSES CHARLES each had two hits apiece.
Walker got the loss in relief on the mound when after throwing a perfect eighth inning, he walked the first two hitters to start the ninth. A bunt base hit loaded the bases and the game ended on a single to center field.
Alcorn State (0-2) will conclude finish play in the Urban Invitational with a 3 p.m. CST game Sunday against Southern University at the MLB Urban Youth Academy.
