Box Score Senior Octavius Brown scored 13 points, junior DeAndre' Davis added 12 points and the Alcorn State University men's basketball team defeated Southern University 70-56 on Saturday night in front of 1,275 fans at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
With the win, the Braves improve to 12-4 in conference action and log their sixth win of their last seven games.
The Braves avenged an early season loss to Southern University when they fell 75-64 in Baton Rouge, on Jan. 30. Alcorn pulled off the win by out rebounding the Jaguars (40-32), capitalizing on second chance points (14-1) and putting up points in the paint (20-10).
The Braves also used a balanced offensive attack to secure the win against the Jaguars. Nine different Braves scored on the night while the team was 37 percent from the field.
Alcorn returns to action Thursday, March 3, as the Braves host Prairie View A&M University at 7:30 p.m.
