THIBODAUX, La. – Alcorn State University drops midweek games against Nicholls State University.
In game one, the Alcorn State University Lady Braves could not overcome an early onslaught as they fell to Nicholls State University, 10-4.
Nicholls State jumped out to a six run lead in the first four innings before Alcorn State got its bats swinging.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Braves took advantage of an NSU error to score SAMETRIA COLLINS and Andi Gutierrez. TAYLOR HUGHES recorded two RBI on the play. With a runner in scoring position and on a 3-2 count, Jesse Gresly recorded a hit to close the gap 8-4. Alcorn's momentum continued, recording back-to-back singles and a walk to load the bases with only one out on the scoreboard but That was as close as Alcorn would get as the next two batters struck out and flied out, respectfully. Nicholls State added two more runs to seal the game at 10-4.
GAME 2: Lady Braves drops 12-1 decision in game two.
Alcorn State struck first taking an early one run lead in the top of the first inning.
Nicholls State answered right back with a nine run bottom of the first inning.
The Lady Braves offense stalled the rest of the way as 12 consecutive batters were sat down.
NSU added three more runs in the last two innings to close the game 12-1.
The Lady Braves return to Alcorn State to host Alabama A&M University in a pivitoal three game conference series beginning with a single game Friday, April 8 at 1 p.m. followed by doubleheader action Saturday.
