Lady Braves Return to the Pitch at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Alcorn State University women's soccer team will return to action Tuesday in a 4 p.m. match against Delta State University at Delta Field. 

The Lady Braves (0-1) take the field for the first time since Aug. 21 when it opened the season against UL-Lafayette.  Freshman forward RITA OKORO attempted three shots in the contest while fellow freshman goalie TAYLOR LINNEY recorded 11 saves. Alcorn totaled 15 saves and trapped ULL into 11 offsides. 

The Lady Statesmen (2-1) routed Louisiana College 7-0 in their most recent match with seven different student-athletes scoring goals. More of DSU's previous results include a 4-0 win over Millsaps College (Sept. 1) and a 3-1 loss to the University of Montevallo (Sept. 4). 

Senior forward Katie Swaine leads the Lady Statesmen with three goals, including two against MIllsaps.

This will be the Alcorn's last slated non-conference match. The Lady Braves will face Howard University in their home and conference opener Friday, Sept. 23 on a 4 p.m. start inside Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
