LORMAN, Miss. -The Alcorn State University soccer program will host Howard in its home and Southwestern Athletic Conference opener Friday inside Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium on a 4 p.m. start.Â
The Lady Braves (0-2) are led by redshirt-freshman forward Rita Okoro who was Alcorn's lone goalscorer in its last match, an 11-1 loss at Delta State. Senior midfielder Comfort Agyei notched the assist, slipping a beautiful pass to set up Okoro's finish.Â
Okoro has fired 12 shots including six on goal through two games this season.Â
Freshman goalkeeper Giselle Rojas has taken over between the posts with six saves in the first two contests.Â
The Lady Bison (3-3-1) feature eight players who were named to the Preseason All-SWAC Team including Offensive Player of the Year Kela Gray, Defensive Player of the Year Kendall Hamilton and Goalkeeper of the Year Mackenzie Diotte.Â
Howard's midfielders Noelle McCullum and Anna Mitchell broke through for goals in its most recent 2-0 victory over Virginia Military Institute. The duo spearheads the team in goals scored with two each. Diotte has 33 saves with a 2.1 goal allowed average.Â
