LORMAN, Miss. - In the midst of a five-game home stretch, the Alcorn State University soccer program will face Southern University Friday at 6 p.m. and Jackson State University Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
The Lady Braves (0-3, 0-1 SWAC) are coming off of their most impressive performance of the season, a 4-1 loss to SWAC defending champion Howard. Senior Viktoriya Mihaylova scored for Alcorn off of a free kick from fellow senior Comfort Agyei.
Freshman Giselle Rojas tallied a career-high 10 saves between the posts for the Lady Braves.
The Lady Jaguars (1-7, 1-1 SWAC) dropped its most recent match to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-1. Their lone win was over Grambling State 5-1 at Jaguar Park. This is Southern's first road conference contest this season.
Six of Southern's eight goals have been scored by freshman Sophia Zavala. She notched four of the team's five goals against the Lady Lions. Juniors Nasheka Doyley and Jessica Persico have accounted for the other two goals.
JSU (1-6, 1-0 SWAC) recently picked up a 5-0 victory over Grambling State. Freshman Patricia Calderon scored two goals as a substitute. The other three goals were netted by seniors Jalana Ellis and Kyleigh Io and sophomore Kalen Roberts.
