LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University men's basketball program will look to bounce back Monday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

Alcorn (5-11, 2-3 SWAC) almost completed a late comeback against Mississippi Valley State on Saturday as they cut a 12-point deficit with two minutes left down to four points with 54 seconds remaining. Though, the Delta Devils hung on after making their free throws down the stretch.

Junior
Reginal Johnson recorded a monster performance of 28 points and 16 rebounds. He went 10-of-12 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.

Johnson, the team's "sixth man", leads the Braves with 15.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per outing while shooting .528 from the field. He's notched four double-doubles this year and six in his career.

Senior
Marquis Vance nearly averages a double-double with 10.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He ranks fourth in the SWAC in blocks (1.0 bpg) and seventh in rebounding.

Also averaging in double-figures, senior
Denzel Dulin nets 10.0 points per game. He's etched back-to-back double-digit scoring games with 14 points at Jackson State and 13 vs. MVSU.

UAPB (4-14, 3-1 SWAC) is looking to shake off its first conference loss Saturday, 76-75 at Southern. The Golden Lions opened league play with home victories over MVSU 105-91, Alabama State 71-63 and Alabama A&M 81-65.

UAPB has a balanced scoring attack with Ghiavonni Robinson leading the way with 10.9 points per game. Trent Steen averages 9.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per outing and shoots .511 from the field.

In league play, the Golden Lions rank first in the conference with a +9.2 scoring margin and a .504 field goal percentage.

- Alcorn swept the Golden Lions in the season-series last year 79-60 at home and 73-65 on the road.

- The Braves are 4-2 at home this season where they have outscored the opposition 467-370.

- Johnson has scored at least 12 points in 14 of the last 15 games, and has pulled down at least five rebounds in 15 of the last 16 contests.

- Vance has tallied 61 career double-figure scoring games and nine double-doubles. He's Alcorn's newest member of the 1,000-point club after he surpassed the mark against Blue Mountain on Nov. 22, 2016.

- Dulin has registered at least nine points in every SWAC game. Dulin scored a career-high 20 points at Colorado State on Nov. 27 which upped his previous best of 16 set in the game before against Blue Mountain.

- Mosby is coming off back-to-back-to-back double-figure scoring games with 16 points at Grambling, 11 at Jackson State and 15 against MVSU. He's the only Brave to start in every game this year. Mosby leads the team assists, steals and three-point field goal percentage. He averages 9.6 points per game in conference.

DeAndre Davis returned to the lineup for conference play after missing the previous nine games with a hand injury. He posted 12 points and five rebounds against Texas Southern in his first game back. Davis has grabbed eight rebounds in each of the last two games.

Yalen Reed has been one of Alcorn's most accurate shooters this year. He comes off the bench and is shooting 22-for-36 (.618) on the year.

Juwan Henderson got his hands on a career-high five steals in Alcorn's last outing against MVSU. It's the most by a Brave in a single game this season.

- The Braves are 5-1 this season when leading at half, and 4-0 when holding the opposition to under 60 points.
