Listen | Live Stats | Alcorn Game Notes

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alcorn State University and Alabama State University women's basketball programs each have winning streaks on the line in Saturday's 3 p.m. matchup inside Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Alcorn (4-13, 4-2 SWAC) has won its last three contests while ASU (5-13, 4-1 SWAC) reigned victorious in its last four.

The Lady Braves boasted a 51-42 advantage on the boards during a 70-48 rout over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their most recent bout.

Senior Henrietta Wells led all scorers with 15 points while fellow senior Brianna Luton and junior Tia Sanders each chipped in 13. Alcorn outscored the Lady Lions 24-10 on turnovers and 26-11 on second-chance opportunities.

The Lady Hornets, the preseason favorite to win the SWAC, have been rolling since dropping their opener 60-45 to Grambling State University.

ASU is spearheaded by SWAC Preseason Player of the Year Brittney Wright, who's nearly averaged a double-double in league play with 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest.

The most intriguing stat for the Lady Hornets is their league-leading +11.6 rebounding margin, far ahead of the Lady Braves second-ranked +2.5. ASU also converts a league-best 73.4 percent of its attempts from the charity stripe.

Alcorn dropped both games to the Lady Hornets last season including a close 52-51 decision in Lorman.

NOTES
- Sanders has scored in double figures in 13 of 17 games this season. She fronts Alcorn in SWAC play with 13.2 ppg.

- Wells is averaging 7.7 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game in league play.

- Alcorn boasts the SWAC's top defense in terms of points allowed per game (58.0). The Lady Braves allowed a season-low 48 points to the Lady Lions in their most recent contest. They also front the conference with 5.2 threes made per game in league play.

- The number 70 has a significant impact on Alcorn's W-L record. The Lady Braves are 9-1 in league play when scoring 70-plus points and 1-5 when allowing 70-plus dating back to last season.

- The Lady Braves have lost depth due to injuries to Dejah Joshua, Bridgejae Patterson and Brianna Tolliver, who were all considered key players on this year's squad. Joshua and Patterson each participated in one contest this season while Alcorn has been without Tolliver, a double-digit scorer in two of the first five games, for 12 straight games.
