HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
The Alcorn State University women's basketball program seeks to start another winning streak Monday when it faces Alabama A&M University at 5:30 p.m. at T.M. Elmore Gym.

Alcorn (4-14, 4-3 SWAC) played three solid quarters Saturday and led Alabama State, the preseason favorite to win the SWAC, 47-42 until a 30-7 fourth-quarter run by the Lady Hornets halted the Lady Braves hopes of a four-game winning streak.

Senior Brianna Luton tallied 17 points, her highest scoring output since a career-high 19 earlier this season against UCA. She knocked down 4-of-6 shots from beyond the arc and notched 11 points in the third quarter alone. Luton's 41.7 three-point percentage and 2.3 treys made per game in league play ranks second.

Junior Alexus Freeman totaled 14 points and five rebounds before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. Senior Henrietta Wells rounded out Alcorn's double-digit scorers with 13 on an efficient 5-of-9 field goals.

AAMU (2-13, 0-6 SWAC) is coming off of a 66-54 defeat against Southern University. Jameica Cobb fronted the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points and seven boards. Cobb and Ebony Johnson both rank in the top-15 in league play in points per game. The two also rank in the top-12 in rebounding.

NOTES
-
Alcorn is 2-0 under head coach Courtney Pruitt against AAMU.

- The Lady Braves are 9-1 in league play under Pruitt when scoring 70-plus points.

- Alcorn leads the SWAC with 5.3 threes made per contest.

- Junior Tia Sanders has scored in double figures in 13 of 18 games this season. Freeman (12.7), Sanders (12.1) and Luton (10.0) are all averaging double figures in league play.

-  Wells is right there at 9.1 points along with a team-high 6.9 rebounds. She has recorded 3.1 blocks per game which ranks atop the SWAC.

- The Lady Braves have lost depth due to injuries to Dejah Joshua, Bridgejae Patterson and Brianna Tolliver, who were all considered key players on this year's squad. Joshua and Patterson each participated in one contest this season while Alcorn has been without Tolliver, a double-digit scorer in two of the first five games, for 13 straight games.
