LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State University women's soccer team concludes the regular season Friday as the Lady Braves host Mississippi Valley State on Senior Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
"We would like to finish the regular season strong," said head coach Junior Noel. "It is an opportunity for us to qualify for conference playoffs where all cards are on the table."
The Lady Braves are coming off a 3-2 overtime win at Southern on Tuesday night. Redshirt-senior Viktoriya Mihaylova scored the game-winner on a free kick from just outside the penalty box and led Alcorn offensively with 5-of-7 shots on frame. Also scoring were redshirt-sophomore Rita Okoro and senior Alexandra Salvador. Okoro's goal in the 57th minute was her ninth of the season as the Nigerian broke her own program record for most goals scored in a season.
Freshman keeper Kameran Proby collected six saves in 96 minutes of work and improved to 4-6 on the year.

The Devilettes (6-10-1, 4-4-1 SWAC) have won two straight with a 1-0 decision over Grambling State last Friday and a 6-3 final against Arkansas-Pine Bluff last Sunday. Laadi Issaka owns eight goals with seven assists to lead the team, followed by Sheyenne Bonnick with seven goals and four assists. Keeper Rita Gyasi is 3-7 this season with 87 saves and 28 goals allowed.
MVSU has the most shutouts of any SWAC team this season, holding opponents scoreless six times.
Alcorn will recognize Mihaylova, Salvador, and senior Priscilla Guardado before the start of the match tomorrow.
"They have been my backbone for the short period I've been here," said Noel about the three seniors. "Friday's game is an opportunity for us to give them a memorable last game on home turf. They were the first to buy in to what I bring and as a result, the transition has been smooth. Their leadership has been very commendable. With their support, they've given me something extra to come to work every day and they'll surely be missed.
