LORMAN, Miss. – Closing out a home week at the Davey L. Whitney Complex, the Alcorn State University men's basketball program will take on Concordia (AL) at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Alcorn (0-6) is 11-3 at home over the last two seasons. The Braves played their home opener Wednesday against Yale but fell 87-73 after a competitive second half. Alcorn trimmed a 16-point first half deficit to just three in the second.

Senior Reginal Johnson, the SWAC Preseason Player of the Year, surpassed the 1,000-point milestone against the Bulldogs. He became the 39th Alcorn student-athlete to do so.

This season, Johnson leads the team in both points per game (12.7) and rebounds per game (4.3) this season. He's coming off a game against Yale where he set career-highs in assists, steals and minutes played.

Senior A.J. Mosby scores 11.8 points per game and leads the team in assists, steals and minutes. He was selected to the Preseason All-Conference Second-Team and was the only Brave to start in every game last year. Mosby has scored 14 points in back-to-back games.

Junior Dante Sterling is coming off a career-high 15 points against Yale. He's scored at least six points and made at least one three-pointer in every game this season.

Concordia is an HBCU located in Selma, Alabama. The Hornets are a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) conference. The USCAA is comprised of 81 small colleges, community colleges and junior colleges across America.

The game can be heard live on 91.7 FM or wprl.org with Charles Edmond as the voice of the Braves.

NOTES
- Sophomore Yalen Reed ranks third in the SWAC in blocks this season. He's swatted away eight in six games. Reed was selected as the SWAC Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year and shot .558 from the field last season.

- Johnson is looking for his fourth consecutive double-figure scoring game. He's reached double-digits in five of six games this year.

- Alcorn recently completed a grueling five-game road trip which featured games in five different states in 10 days. The Braves also have non-conference road games coming up at Tulane, Iowa State and Vanderbilt.

- Alcorn was picked to finish fourth in the SWAC Preseason Poll. It brings back two starters - Mosby and senior Avery Patterson - from a team that played in the SWAC Championship game. The Braves have finished second in the regular season in back-to-back years.

- Head Coach Montez Robinson is in his third season and was the 2016-17 SWAC Coach of the Year winner. He's coached Alcorn to consecutive 13-5 conference records, marking the first back-to-back winning seasons at Alcorn in 15 years. Robinson hoists a 26-10 career SWAC record.
