LORMAN, Miss. – Coming off a big second half in its last outing, the Alcorn State University men's basketball program will look to keep the ball rolling Monday when it hosts Blue Mountain at 7 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

It's the final non-conference home game for the Braves (3-8), and their last in 19 days until they take on Jackson State on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.

In Alcorn's last outing, it defeated Fisk University 77-69. The Braves were behind the Bulldogs (7-3) 33-29 at the intermission when they outscored them 48-36 in the second frame. Alcorn shot .594 (19-32) from the field in the second half, compared to a .353 (12-34) mark in the first.

Senior
A.J. Mosby led the charge with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists. He committed just one turnover in 31 minutes, and 15 of his points came in the second half.

Mosby leads the SWAC in assist:turnover ratio with a 3.1 mark. He's also second in assists (3.7 apg) and fourth in field goal percentage (.524). Mosby averages team-highs of 12.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He's looking for his seventh double-figure scoring game in his last eight outings.

Junior
Dante Sterling averages 10.5 points per game and has made at least one three-pointer in every game this season. He's coming off three consecutive double-figure scoring games including a career-high 17 points against Rust, followed by a 12-point outing at Iowa State and 15 vs. Fisk.

Blue Mountain is 4-6 overall and is an NAIA member. It competes in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). The Toppers registered a notable victory last season when they defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 77-74 in triple overtime.

Jaylon Bardley leads the team with 19.1 points per game. The guard has scored in double-figures in every game this year including four 20-plus performances.

Alcorn will end the week on the road at Vanderbilt at 5 p.m. Friday. It will be the final non-conference game for the Braves who open SWAC play at Prairie View A&M on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at 7 p.m.

- Alcorn is 3-0 all-time against Blue Mountain. The Braves won 76-39 in 2011-12, 68-60 in 2015-16 and 83-57 last season.

- Alcorn is 3-1 at home this season which includes a dominant 103-56 win over Concordia. The 47-point win was Alcorn's largest margin of victory since 1999-00. The Braves scored over 100 points for the first time since 2011-12 when they defeated Atlanta Christian 106-101 in double overtime. It was the first time Alcorn scored over 100 in regulation since 2000-01 when they topped Jackson State 106-76 in the first round of the SWAC Tournament.

- As a team, the Braves lead the conference in field goal percentage defense (.455), assists (14.6 apg), assist:turnover ratio (1.03), three-pointers made per game (8.3) and defensive rebounds (24.0 drpg). They are second in both field goal percentage (.420) and scoring margin (-9.5).

Yalen Reed, the SWAC Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year, ranks top-five in the league in blocks. He's swatted away 10 in 11 games. Reed turned in a career game against Rust where he tallied 20 points and 13 rebounds.

- Tragedy struck Alcorn at Tulane when senior
Reginal Johnson broke his right leg. Johnson was taken off on a stretcher and transported to a nearby medical facility after an air cast was placed on his leg. Johnson is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
