ITTA BENA, Miss. – Riding its longest winning-streak in 10 years, the Alcorn State University men's basketball program will look to keep rolling Saturday when it travels to Mississippi Valley State for a 4 p.m. tip at the R.W. Harrison Complex.

Alcorn (11-11, 8-3 SWAC) has won six in a row for the first time since 2006-07. The Braves are trying to win seven straight for the first time since 2001-02 when they won 20 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

The Braves sit in second-place in the SWAC standings. They are a game and half behind Texas Southern for first, and a game ahead of Southern for third.

MVSU (4-20, 4-7 SWAC) is in ninth-place, but has defeated the top-two teams in the league and is Texas Southern's only conference loss. The Delta Devils are looking to bounce back from a 71-66 defeat at Alabama State on Monday.

For Alcorn, junior
Reginal Johnson leads the team with 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting .517 from the field. In the first meeting against MVSU this year, Johnson posted a career-night of 28 points and 16 rebounds.

Senior
Marquis Vance also nearly averages a double-double with 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He needs just six more points to reach the 1,200 plateau for his career.

The Delta Devils are led by a pair of three-point shooters in Marcus Romain and Isaac Williams who average 17.1 and 13.3 points per game, respectively. Romain shoots .425 from beyond-the-arc while Williams .367. Ta'Jay Henry also scores in double-figures with 11.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per outing.

In conference games, MVSU leads the league in scoring with 77.8 points per game. It shoots .392 from long-range as a team which is also first in the SWAC.

The Braves will wrap-up the weekend Monday when they visit Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7:30 p.m.

- Alcorn is looking to win at MVSU for the second straight year after pulling out a 93-87 triple overtime victory last season. However, the Delta Devils shot .571 (8-14) from three-point range in the first meeting this year to come out on top 84-77 in Lorman.

- In conference games, the Braves lead the league in scoring defense (65.0 ppg), field goal percentage defense (.389), three-point field goal percentage defense (.263), rebounding margin (+4.0), defensive rebounds (27.2 drpg), assists (14.5 apg) and assist:turnover ratio (1.1).

- Alcorn is 10-1 this season when leading at half, 5-0 when scoring over 80 points and 5-0 when holding the opposition to under 60 points. The Braves came back from a halftime deficit for the first time this season against JSU where they trailed 26-25.

- Johnson has scored at least 12 points in 20 of the last 21 games, and has pulled down at least five rebounds in 20 of the last 22 contests. Johnson has scored at least 20 points three times this year.

- Vance tallied 66 career double-figure scoring games and nine double-doubles. He ranks top-10 in the league in rebounding, blocks and assists.

Denzel Dulin puts in 9.7 points per affair. He's registered at least eight points in 9 of 12 conference games. Dulin netted a 17-point performance at AAMU. He scored a career-high 20 points at Colorado State on Nov. 27. Dulin is coming off a 14-point outing against Grambling State where he shot six-for-nine from the field.

A.J. Mosby has tallied eight double-figure scoring games in his last nine outings which included against UAPB where he neared a triple-double with 14 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. He's the only Brave to start in every game this year and also the only one to play 40 minutes in a contest. In league games, Mosby ranks second in the SWAC in assist:turnover ratio (2.1), top-five in assists (3.5 apg) and ninth in free throw percentage (.793).

DeAndre Davis is coming off six consecutive double-digit scoring games including a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds against Jackson State, and a season-high 15 points vs. UAPB. Davis is shooting .571 from the field in league games which ranks top-five. He's also top-10 in rebounding. Davis returned to the lineup for conference play after missing the previous nine games with a hand injury.

Maurice Howard is shooting a team-best .387 from three-point range including .381 in conference play which ranks top-10 in the league. Howard is also making a team-best .800 percentage from the free throw line.

Juwan Henderson comes off the bench as a point guard. He's the only Brave to grab five steals in a single-game this year as he did it against MVSU at home.
