PINE BLUFF, Ark. – On its longest winning-streak since 2001-02, the Alcorn State University men's basketball program will head to H.O. Clemmons Arena on Monday to play Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7:30 p.m.
Alcorn (12-11, 9-3 SWAC) has won seven games in a row which is the 10th longest active winning-streak in the country. The Braves also carry the nation's 10th longest active road winning-streak at four games.
The Braves have not won five straight road games since 1998-99 when they went 23-7 overall and 14-2 in the SWAC and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. They won 12 games in a row overall that season under head coach Davey Whitney.
The school record for most consecutive road wins is 14 set in 1978-79 when the team went 28-1 (12-0 SWAC). The school record for most consecutive wins overall was also set that season at 28 (they won their first 28 games including the first round of the NIT at Mississippi State before falling at Indiana in the next round).
The recipe of success had been shutting team's down defensively until Saturday when the Braves struck for 88 points in a win over Mississippi Valley State. Junior
Reginal Johnson went off for 27 points, the second-highest mark of his career. As a team, Alcorn shot .545 from the field.
Still, defense has been the focal point as the Braves lead the SWAC in field goal percentage defense (.390), three-point field goal percentage defense (.262), rebounding margin (+3.8), defensive rebounds (27.3 drpg), assists (14.3 apg) and assist:turnover ratio (1.0) in league games.
Johnson leads the team with 15.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while shooting .527 from the field. He's scored at least 12 points in 21 of the last 22 games, and has pulled down at least five rebounds in 20 of the last 23 contests.
Senior
Marquis Vance also nearly averages a double-double with 10.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per outing. His well-rounded game has him ranked top-10 in the league in rebounding, blocks and assists. Vance surpassed the 1,200-point plateau Saturday and is up to 1,203.
UAPB (7-19, 6-6 SWAC) is coming off back-to-back wins with a 65-49 result at Alabama A&M and 68-61 vs. Southern. The Golden Lions have a balanced attack led by Trent Steen who averages 10.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
NOTES
- Alcorn is trying to sweep UAPB for the second year in a row. The Braves won 82-64 in the first meeting this year. Last season, Alcorn came out on top 79-60 at home and 73-65 on the road.
- Alcorn's win over UAPB in the first meeting this year on Jan. 16 is what started its seven-game streak. Junior

Denzel Dulin puts in 9.8 points per affair. He's registered at least eight points in 10 of 13 conference games. Dulin netted a 17-point performance at AAMU. He scored a career-high 20 points at Colorado State on Nov. 27. Dulin is coming off back-to-back double-digit scoring games with 14 points against Grambling State and 13 at MVSU.
- Mosby has tallied nine double-figure scoring games in his last 10 outings and five in a row. He's the only Brave to start in every game this year and also the only one to play 40 minutes in a contest. In league games, Mosby ranks second in the SWAC in assist:turnover ratio (1.8), sixth in assists (3.5 apg) and eighth in three-point percentage (.393).

DeAndre Davis has scored six double-figure scoring games in his last seven outings including a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds against Jackson State. Davis is shooting .587 from the field in league games which ranks top-five. He's also top-10 in rebounding.
- Freshman
Maurice Howard is shooting a team-best .392 from three-point range including .391 in conference play which ranks top-10 in the league. Howard is also making a team-best .818 percentage from the free throw line.
